Fire and Forget - 2014

6 - 9pm 13th March 2014

I will be exhibiting new work at the Launch event of Castlefied Gallery's new pop up spaces at Federation House.

Fire and Forget is an installation of 168 individual threads of cotton each one representing a child that has been killed by U.S. Army drone strikes in the Pakistan Region. The threads of cotton are draped over a scale reproduction of an AGM-114 Hellfire missile which is used on the MQ-9 Reaper Drones that are active in that area.

Landfillart Project - 2013

I was invited to take part in the international Landfillart project. The 1,041 pieces of rusted metal are actually old automobile hub caps from the 1930’s through the 1970’s. Each hub cap, after being cleaned and primed, is affectionately called a “metal canvas.”

My piece was titled Unmanned Reaper drone MQ-9 and took its inspiration from the painted World War II bombers that were personalised by their crew. The element I chose to highlight was the fact that over 168 children had been killed by U.S. drone strikes in Pakistan and the Yemen.
